    ​                               General Enrichment Information for 2019-2020
    Enrichment Programs will be run by KidsCo. The goal of Enrichment is to include a variety of class types to meet the interests of students, with offerings for all grade levels. KidsCo will host classes Monday through Friday, with options for all grades each day. There will be three 8-week sessions offered over the year:

    * Fall: Oct. 14th - Dec. 19th
    * Winter: Jan. 13th - March 20th
    * Spring: Apr. 6th - June 12th

    Most classes are tuition-based; all have scholarships available. If you would like to know more about scholarships, please contact KidsCo.

    Fall 2019 Info and Registration
    Fall after school classes run from October 14th to December 19th. Registration opens Saturday, Sept. 21st at 7 a.m. and runs for two weeks. Registration will close Sunday, Oct. 6th an 11:59 p.m. All registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Once a class is full, you can sign your child up to be put on the waitlist and will be notified if a spot opens up.

    All classes include a $25 registration fee per child. If you need to cancel prior to clubs starting, you will receive a full refund for the class. If you need to cancel after October 14th for any reason, you will receive the refund the vendor approves less the $25 registration fee. All children will meet directly after school in the Gym, which is also where they will be picked up. All classes are 1.5 hours!

    All Sports - Grades 2-5 $205
    Join One on One for All-Sport Class this coming session. Skilled and experienced instructors will conduct an exciting and productive session each week right after school. We will learn the strategies and motor-skills of various sports and games while playing games and scrimmages. Great fun, great camaraderie, and great exercise!     Basketball - Grades 3-5 $170
    Join One on One Basketball this semester for After School Hoops®, an ideal after school activity for aspiring athletes. Basketball is a unique sport that combines upper and lower body motor-skill learning with an intense cardiovascular workout. Our organization has decades of experience teaching this sport in a motivating, inclusive and age-appropriate manor. After School Hoops® makes three guarantees: your child will learn, sweat and have fun!

    ​Chess Club with Chess Mates - Grades 1-5 $157
    Join the QAE chess club! Learn tactics and strategies, play serious and just for fun games, solve chess puzzles and quizzes. All materials are provided, just come ready to learn. Each club will consist of one of the following - chess lesson/instruction, chess puzzles, games between students.

    Cooking Club: Food Detectives - Grades K-5 $250
    Put your detective skills to the test in this fun and unique cooking series. We will investigate packaged foods like pancake mix, mac ‘n’ cheese, or even crackers, and learn to make them completely from scratch! Every class we will create a gourmet, home cooked version and use our detective skills to compare. We'll uncover tasty secrets through cooking, experiments and hands on projects that will be sure to shock you! By the end of this series, students will have the practical skills necessary to begin re-creating their favorite grocery store foods at home, and the critical eye to eat food in a wholesome, nutritional, and sustainable manner.     Comic Book Writing - Grades 1-5 $248
    Do you have a young artist or perhaps a superhero in the household? In our comic book class, students will learn the basics of comic writing. They will then create their very own comic books.

    Debateable - Grade 4-5 $315
    DebateAble Clubs make learning to debate fun while kids grow as critical thinkers, confident public speakers, and collaborative teammates. DebateAble's program was developed exclusively for kids in upper elementary grades, using games, activities and relevant topics to teach debaters to make and respond to arguments in an upbeat, positive environment-- with an emphasis on learning to consider both sides of any topic or issue. DebateAble empowers kids to find their own voices and listen to the voices of others!     Gather in the Garden - Grades K-5 $100
    The connection between humans and our Earth are never ending. Each Wednesday after school, we'll be "gathering in the garden" located a block away from school at the QA P-Patch, to engage with our young people as they turn their innate knowledge of the natural world around us into real experiences. Adventures through basic earth science, energy and growing cycles, seasons, community stewardship, seed collection, basic gardening, cross cultural agricultural connections, urban wildlife identification and nature crafting will be the focus. This class maxes out at 8 students. Adults are welcome to join in anytime. The garden educator will meet the students at school and will walk them over to the p- patch as a group. Parents will pick students up at the P-patch, 301 Lynn St. Please sign up for the after school class through enrichment. Start and end dates and times will follow the enrichment calendar.     Games, Art and Apps! - Grades 3-5 $372

    Your child can code their own games, art, and (wait for apps!) What? Yes, it's true. Our class for grades 3-5 is open to all experience levels. Students will bring their own ideas for the games and animations they wish to create, and our teachers will guide them towards their goals. A variety of challenges will supplement each coder’s own projects, which they’ll get to show in a presentation at the end of the class! Beginners will spend the first few lessons learning the basics of coding and how to use Scratch before diving into their own projects. Our classic Creative Coding experience is designed to be repeated as many times as desired, as each student continues to hone their skills through the individual assistance of our awesome instructors!

    Hamilton w/ Stone Soup Theater - Grades 1-5 $215
    Join Stone Soup Theatre for acting games, drama exercises, and a staged performance of excerpts from the hit musical Hamilton. This show about American founding father Alexander Hamilton will come to life with hip hop, rhythm and blues, soul and pop music tied together into something brand new in American drama. The last class will be a performance for families and friends.

    Harry Potter Magical Engineering with LEGO Materials - Grades K-2 $211
    Explore the magic of Harry Potter using LEGO®! Find Platform 9 3⁄4, build Hogwarts Express Train, work cooperatively to construct the mysterious Hogwarts Castle, and challenge the Hungarian Horntail Dragon. Travel to a world of wizardry and hone your magical skills while learning about Muggle (STEM) concepts.

    Hip Pop - All Grades $270
    This upbeat dance class gets the students movin' and groovin' after school!. Each class incorporates stretching, energetic warm-ups, and of course- dance games! Students learn a choreographed dance routine throughout the course and an opportunity to perform at our Metropolis Dance Show! (Media release required to participate in our show)

    Improvisation w/ Stone Soup Theatre - Grades 2-5 $235
    Join Stone Soup Theatre for a class in theatrical improvisation. We'll teach you to trust yourself to make up stories and characters as you go, learning story structure along the way. Creativity, confidence, and basic acting skills come together in this fast-moving class. Concludes with a performance for families and friends.

    Maker Mania - Grades K-2 $195
    Maker mania is crafting with recyclables sprinkled with STEAM. Classes are process oriented with plenty of time for personal exploration of materials. The teacher will present the students with materials and a sample to start from. Students then use the materials available to create whatever they choose. Some past projects have been pom pom shooters, water bottle cars and marble runs.

    Mixed Media Art Studio with Kids Create - All Grades $195
    Would you like to explore Monet’s garden? Would you like to visit the dance studio with Degas? How about creating cut- up collages with Matisse, mixed media self portraits with Frida Kahlo, or wire and tape figures with Giacometti? Come join us after school to learn about some adventurous artists as we explore drawing, painting, sculpture, doodling, collage, and clay. There are no mistakes in art!

    Parkour and the Art of Movement - Grades K-2 $315
    Parkour and the Art of Movement is the ability to move fluidly through your environment from one place to another. In this class, children will safely learn to progress through the basic parkour movements of jumping, vaulting, climbing, swinging, balancing, and rolling. The movements build strength, balance, and coordination. Your child will acquire the ability to engage with their environment while overcoming obstacles, both physically and mentally. Our program is based on the 5 pillars of Social Emotional Learning (SEL), which are self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Practicing parkour skills fosters creativity and boosts confidence. Accomplishing challenges that seemed impossible at one point will give your child the confidence to achieve whatever they set their mind to.

    Sewing - Grades 1-5 $205
    Students are invited to learn a skill they will use for a lifetime and a hobby they will forever enjoy...sewing! No experience necessary for boys and girls to learn the basics and beyond. New students will learn machine safety and beginner sewing techniques, while the more experienced students can expand on skills they already have. The class will begin with a simple project, then students will advance at their own pace to more exciting and challenging projects throughout the session. This class is designed to teach children with both beginning and advanced skills. Projects, which are constantly rotating during the quarter, include backpacks, phone cases, clothing, accessories, bags, games, stuffed animal and more!

    Spanish K-2 - Grades K-2nd $205
    Art, music, drama and games guide the curriculum for our Spanish classes. Our classes are conducted entirely in the target language so that students are fully engaged in the language and culture they are studying. Join us for some Spanish fun!

    Young Engineers - Bricks Challenge - Grades 1-5 $320
    The objective of this course is to impart theoretical and applied knowledge in the fields of Science, Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) by using LEGO® and other exciting tools. The main goal is to illustrate content through stories and demonstrations. Students will learn mathematics and physical principles through intuitive study; develop their independent learning; and improve their building skills. Once the concepts have been demonstrated, students enjoy hands on building the LEGO® models which provides experiential learning and reinforces the lessons.

    What we will learn this session: Powers and principles in physics: The lever principle, fulcrum, effort arm, load arm, torque, transmissions, types of transmission, aviation history, kinetic energy, potential energy, centrifugal force and centripetal force.     Zumba - Grades 1-5 $245
    Zumba Kids - let's Dance! Zumba Kids is a place where kids can be active and JAM out to music from around the world and the latest hits. We use kid friendly routines, break down the dance steps and add activities and cultural exploration elements. Zumba Kids help develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children's lives by making fitness fun. Come and join the Dance Party!
